Homework for November 15

In our class on Thursday, November 3, we talked about editing writing. We learned that editing means looking at each sentence carefully and looking for and correcting mistakes in grammar, spelling and punctuation. We discussed one particular error  - sentence fragments - and did some exercises in recognizing and correcting sentence fragments. Then you had an opportunity to read each others' paragraphs and give feedback.

For next class on Tuesday, November 15, you need to do the following:

1. Sentence Fragments
    a) ex. B on pp. 55 - 56;
    b) practice 2 (A and B) from a handout
        Important! Part B requires you to correct the fragments on a separate sheet of paper.
        Part B - On a separate sheet of paper write fragments in brackets [   ] and then correct it.
        For example: [Whenever my next-door neighbor has time] - Whenever my next-door neighbor has
                             time, we play video games together.

2. Rewrite the paragraph based on the feedback that you got from your classmates on Thursday. The paragraph has to be typed, double-space, and printed. Please, bring the rewritten paragraph, the feedback and the first draft of the paragraph to class on Tuesday.

See you in class on Tuesday!
