Last week, in our class on Thursday we looked at the elements of good writing - subject, purpose and audience. An acronym SPA helps you remember the three elements easily. We looked in some detail at how to narrow down the subject to a manageable topic and had some practice in groups how to do it. We also looked at three main purposes of writing - to inform, entertain and persuade and did some exercises that required you to identify the purpose of writing.

For your homework for Tuesday, October 11, you have the following tasks to do:

1) p. 5 - Narrow down the subject of TECHNOLOGY until you find a specific angle that you would be interested in writing about.

2) pp. 8-9, finish the exercise Identifying Purpose, part A by identifying the purpose of texts 5, 6 and 7.

3) p. 9- Do part B of Identifying Purpose.

See you in class on Tuesday!
